Demetrius Jones and Northern Illinois coach Joe Novak finally talked -- on the phone -- but the former Notre Dame quarterback doesn't appear to be any closer to joining the Huskies.
And contrary to published reports, Jones apparently isn't enrolled in classes at NIU.
''The last I heard, he's not,'' Novak said Tuesday at his weekly news conference. ''He has got a lot of things available to him.''

"It was one of the best [defensive line performances] I've ever seen, and it was when we really needed it," said Huskies coach Joe Novak, who has sent offensive linemen to the NFL and now could be sending one from the defensive side. "He's gaining confidence, and I think he's going to have that [NFL] chance.
"But in one more year. We need him one more year."
